Design Concept Statement

The Winslow Spa is in the historic Fargo Ford building built in the 1920s. This building provides a wonderful example of Fargo's rich history and culture. When guests enter the Winslow Spa, they will instantly be transported to a place of relaxation with the luxurious materials and the natural, neutral colors. As the guests leave the locker rooms, they can enter the relaxation lounge. This features beautiful lime wash walls and plenty of greenery to take their stress away. “Light and color in general have been repeatedly shown to be able to influence people’s mood, both at a biological and psychological level” (Kuijsters, Redi, Ruyter & Heynderickx, 2015). The relaxation lounge is located on one of the Ford buildings' beautiful paneled windows, allowing for the room to be filled with plenty of natural light. After the guests wait in the relaxation lounge, they can enter one of many of the spa’s amenities. The massage rooms are a perfect place to let loose and relax. Each of the massage rooms is located on large windows and have dimmable lighting to offer the perfect experience for the massage. With soft carpet flooring the massage specialists can stand with all day comfort. The guests may also venture into the luxury salt room. The salt walls allow for guests to breathe deeply and enter a state of total relaxation. The floor is made of finely grate Himalayan salt to enhance the guests’ affair. “The efficiency of salt therapy is mainly due to.. Salt has a natural ability to emit negative ions, neutralizing a positive charge” (Vladeva & Panajotova, 2018). After the guests finish their spa treatment, they can end their stay by washing off in the luxury locker rooms. The Winslow Spa will truly be a gem of Fargo and will be a place guests will look forward to coming back.
